Why aren't (most) churches being taxed?

first...to answer your question......because it's a racket.....no one want to tick off the religious people in this country.....to the poster above...separation of church and state....what the heck does that have to do with taxes....a statement written in a letter means nothing....if you are pointing to the first amendment, if you actually have read it...which I doubt.....basically all it says is govt. shall not promote one religion or another nor shall it prohibit any religion.....it has NOTHING to do with paying taxes....
