Golden yellow walls in living room and kitchen?

we are getting ready to rent a beautiful home in about 2 weeks as soon as the owners move out into their new home..they just recently painted 2 walls, 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the living room,(this wall has a fireplace on it) a golden yellowish like color..we aren't allowed to paint any of the walls ourselves so the color must stay,which isn't a problem as i sort of like it,the problem is that i have a chocolate brown tweed sofa,the back cushions have a block like pattern on them that trade off a greyish like color and a burgandy color,which will not match the color of the walls,,i have already decided to buy covers for the furnature,,but what colors would go best with the color of the walls...i like reds,but would this be too bold?
