I am considering becoming a follower of Islam do you think I should?

Well, ultimately it is your choice. If you are truly interested in Islam and it impacts you in some profound way, study up on it some more. Don't just jump into something. Your mother won't be happy about it at all, but its not her choice to make. If you become more educated about Islam, you can better explain why you chose it and understand why yourself. Good luck.
