Does life depend on luck?

I was "luckily" chosen among million other sperms to the egg and develop to become a conscious human. This very basic observation of nature is reflected throughout the life of oneself in a society where the person has to interact and swim through the collective "selves" who were likewise lucky enough to be born. But I'm feeling more and more that life itself is also a repeat of this process where the fortunate and content ones have been directed by luck. I'm not an expert at philosophy so anyone want to fill in on this?
