Like Lee Harvey Oswald, Camilla Parker-Bowles & Billy Ray Cyrus why do ins have three names?

Possibly the reason is to avoid disturbing people who share the same first and last name but can be differentiated because of their middle name. Of course, this doesn't help someone who happens to also share the middle name.
