How do i get rid of the mucus in my throat?

i cant get rid of the mucus in my throat,when i take a deep breath it sounds pretty bad i went to the doctor and have been taking biaxin,mucinex,saline spray and still its like cake.i do have a history of bronchitis.when i went to the doctor he told me it was a upper respiratory infection.of course a few days after i saw the doctor is has gotten worse,i am concerned
