Guys: Would you ever be interested in one of your close girl friends?

I was. I thought it would have been a great relationship. I knew everything about her. I knew how to make her laugh and what she loved to do. I was there for her and she for me in the good times and bad times. I thought she was the perfect girl for me. Then I asked her out, She didn't answer that. I try brushing it off and tried to stay her friend, and she started ignoring more. Now we rarely talk. So what I am saying is it can go both ways. They can return the feelings, or not and you lose a friend.
