Can Lymphatic Leukemia be Hereditary?

Alright, so my Dad had Lymphatic Leukemia and ped away in '97. While my mom was pregnant with me, the doc's told her that there was nothing to worry about, that was '88. My question is, should I be getting blood tests done yearly? Or better yet, is it hereditary?
