Does anyone know the time (year?) E. A. Poe's The Masque of the Red Death was set?

I'm asking because I have a character design set in that time period (as a sort of tangent of the original story) so I'd like to know if there was an exact date meant to be portrayed in his poem. A publishing date would probably suffice if there was no particular time setting.
